The tradition of the "Klezmorim", the Jewish wedding musicians from eastern Europe, united two apparent opposites: the preservation of melodies and particular techniques handed down over centuries and the genre's constant development through influences of the various cultures the Jewish diaspora came in contact with. On their debut CD, Kapelye Ziganoff present this diversity of expression in a modern context. Old songs and dances which radiate strength and vitality are placed next to the band's own arrangements and compositions. The latter blend jazz and oriental elements and create openings for surprising interpretations.
